Je me r\u00e9veille avec un objectif, voir les immenses tortues g\u00e9antes en libert\u00e9. Je dois monter sur les hauteurs de l\u2019\u00eele, une route sinueuse, caillouteuse, le chauffeur explose son pneu. Il n\u2019a rien pour changer la roue, je m\u2019impatiente, je poursuis en stop, mauvaise id\u00e9e\u2026 Il commence \u00e0 pleuvoir, ce sont des routes de montagne peu fr\u00e9quent\u00e9es. P\u00e9niblement j\u2019arrive \u00e0 l\u2019endroit voulu, \u00e0 l\u2019entr\u00e9e une mega tortue, je n\u2019avais jamais vu un exemplaire aussi grand. Manfred un botaniste allemand m\u2019interpelle, on commence \u00e0 discuter. Depuis des ann\u00e9es il \u00e9tudie ces animaux, je me prom\u00e8ne avec lui pendant trois heures. Il me transmet son savoir, c\u2019est un passionn\u00e9, j\u2019adore ces rencontres improbables.<\/p>\n

Des centaines de tortues, \u00e9normes, \u00e2g\u00e9es de plus de 150 ans. Quelle \u00e9motion. Manfred me propose de descendre en ville avec sa Jeep, heureusement car autrement \u00e7a aurait \u00e9t\u00e9 tr\u00e8s compliqu\u00e9 sur cette route. Je lui offre un verre puis je me pr\u00e9pare pour l\u2019excursion de l\u2019apr\u00e8s-midi en bateau. C\u2019est tr\u00e8s touristique mais le seul moyen de visiter ces \u00eeles. Magnifiques paysages, je d\u00e9couvre l\u2019oiseau \u00e0 pattes bleues, les pingouins, d\u2019autres esp\u00e8ces jamais vues. Les jeunes touristes sont tous en silence face \u00e0 cette nature aussi fascinante. Je reviens au port, Manfred m\u2019attendait avec des photos d\u2019animaux. Il est venu expr\u00e8s pour me montrer ses archives, je suis vraiment touch\u00e9.<\/p>\n

Mi sveglio con un obiettivo: vedere le enormi tartarughe giganti in natura. Devo salire fino alle alture dell’isola, una strada tortuosa e sassosa, l’autista fora una gomma. Non ha niente con cui cambiare la ruota, mi spazientisco, continuo a fare l’autostop, cattiva idea… Comincia a piovere, sono strade di montagna con poco traffico. A fatica arrivo al posto desiderato, all’ingresso una mega tartaruga, non avevo mai visto un esemplare cos\u00ec grande.<\/p>\n

Manfred, un botanico tedesco, mi chiama e cominciamo a parlare. Studia questi animali da anni, cammino con lui per tre ore. Mi trasmette la sua conoscenza, \u00e8 appassionato, adoro questi incontri improbabili. Centinaia di tartarughe, enormi, vecchie di oltre 150 anni. Che emozione! Manfred mi suggerisce di andare in citt\u00e0 con la sua Jeep, fortunatamente perch\u00e9 altrimenti sarebbe stato molto complicato su questa strada. Gli offro da bere e poi mi preparo per la gita in barca del pomeriggio. \u00c8 molto turistico, ma \u00e8 l’unico modo per visitare queste isole. Paesaggi magnifici, scopro l’uccello dalle zampe blu, i pinguini, altre specie mai viste prima. I giovani turisti restano tutti in silenzio di fronte a questa natura affascinante.<\/p>\n

Tornai al porto, Manfred mi aspettava con le foto degli animali. \u00c8 venuto apposta per mostrarmi i suoi archivi, sono davvero commosso.
